Luxury Bed Linens

Last year we brought you 2009: A Review of Luxury Bedding Trends, an article that revealed the hottest trends in bedding. Although we have only experienced a taste of 2010, it is time to cast our predictions for the top 2010 trends in luxury bedding.

Organic Bedding
As in 2009, Eco-friendly bed linens remain a top choice for their soft feel and all natural composition. Almost every luxury bedding company features a collection that is composed of organic cotton. Unlike synthetic linens, pure cotton sheets contain no harsh chemicals and can even reduce exposure to infections.

Less Is More
When it comes to bedding, less is more. There is a stronger focus on the quality of bedding rather than the quantity of coordinating accents. Strip away gaudy elements like bed skirts to reveal your inner minimalist. Bedding has become efficient no longer relying on dazzle and exuberance.

Cozy Is The New Chic
Comfortable luxury bedding demonstrates our society’s need for a more tranquil environment. A good night’s sleep can often rejuvenate one’s mind, body, and even spirit. Luxury bedding manufacturers are now beginning to focus on comfort over the adorned. Items like goose down comforters and Egyptian cotton sheets makes sleeping a more relaxing event.

Cooler Tones Relax The Mind
If it’s not broke, why fix it? Popular in 2009, cooler tones (e.g. blue, purple, green) command attention from the bedding industry due to their soothing appeal. Bold and bring colors like red stimulate our senses while softer cools help to relax us. Blue has shown to lower blood pressure and decrease one’s heart rate. Soft and muted tones from the cool palette compliment elegant luxury bedding and their endeavors to provide relaxation.

(Faux) Fur Made Affordable
For decades, elegant luxury bedding often included pieces made of exotic furs like mink and chinchilla. Now, luxury bedding has been made affordable at “recession-friendly” price points. Faux fur is PETA friendly and fashion forward. Luxury bedding stores have now incorporated playful accents like sheepskin pillows and lamb throws into their collections. If you are looking for opulence, enhance your bedding with touches of faux fur.
