Architecture Meets Art at Iceland’s Harpa Centre
August 31, 2011If you are dazzled by architecture or just appreciate its beauty, check this out! Copenhagen studio Henning Larsen Architects has completed the Harpa concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavík, Iceland in collaboration with artist Olafur Eliasson. This remarkable creation gathers inspiration from the northern lights and the dramatic Icelandic scenery that surrounds it. The images below show how the beautiful steel framework mixes clear and color coated glass with twelve-sided modules. This faceted glass scatters reflections of the surrounding harbor and sky, and presents a glittering wall of light after dark. The overall intention of this architectural piece is to generate life in the area and to create a better connection between the city centre and the harbor.
