Happy Memorial Day!!!
May 31, 2011Since yesterday our dear readers were probably making the best out of the last moments of their holiday weekend, surrounded by friends and family at the beach, lake, barbeque or just enjoying their day off from work by simply not doing anything, we decided to do the same… JUST KIDDING!!! We actually had a very productive and inspiring day at the Met, but we’ll tell you about that later.
We all know Memorial Day officially kicks off the summer beach season, so wanting to take off and have fun is perfectly understandable. But let’s not forget how important this holiday is for our nation; therefore, we should take time to remember all those men and women who have died serving our country. At CassaBlog, we not only want to honor the brave ones, we also use this occasion to wish there was no need for any more people to die in war. This is why we chose this song, which can be interpreted in different ways. We invite you to draw your own conclusions and feel free to comment.
Originally released as the second single from Green Day’s eighth album, 21st Century Breakdown, “21 Guns” became a success on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #22. The song was then recorded with the cast of American Idiot, the musical, presented in New York City on Broadway at the St. James Theater from March 24, 2010 through April 24, 2011. This version, produced by Billie Joe Armstrong, lead vocalist of Green Day, was also performed by the cast together with him singing lead at the 52nd Grammy Awards. Enjoy it!
PEACE.
