Russian Red: Fuerteventura

by Julie Petrarca

Russian Red

If you woke up in New York City today, then you probably share our opinion that weather was downright freezing, and since we are  trying to think warm thoughts, today’s Music Monday brings us back to the sunshine of summer.  If you missed one of 2011’s more under-the-radar albums, Fuerteventura, then let us give you a bit of an introduction. Written by Spanish songstress Lourdes Hernández, more popularly known by her stage name, Russian Red, the title track from the album showcases the angelic and youthful voice that sets her apart from other artists. We came across this lively acoustic version (complete with kazoo and sunglasses), and could not help but share this little gem with you.  So, take a listen below and reminisce about some warm, sunny weather while you prepare to brave the cold!

An added bonus- if you like the song you can still download it for free by signing up for the Russian Red newsletter.
