Summer Nights: The Hurricane Club

The Hurricane Club’s luxe main room and bar

When an establishment is in the company of top-tier eateries like Park Avenue Summer and Quality Meats, you know you’re in good hands. Opened in 2011, this newest member to the Stillman restaurant group is the Hurricane Club, a fabulously upscale Tiki-themed space hidden behind large doors on the corner of 26th and Park Avenue South. When looking to do something different and special with your summer night, the Hurricane Club is an excellent choice. The multi-level, multi-room spot is primarily a restaurant, but the large central bar and the lounge outside the main dining room contribute to the space’s “something more” vibe, with loud music and an always buzzing clientele. The cuisine is Asian fusion, offering everything from steamed lobster dumplings to tuna tartare cones to chicken lettuce cups and an “Island Jungle” chopped salad with twelve ingredients. (All of which were sampled on a recent visit and thoroughly enjoyed!) Even more notable than the varied and tasty food, however, are the cocktails. The tropical theme fully carries over to the drink list, with deliciously fun creations like a Ginger-Lychee martini, the Hurricane Mai Tai, and a Tahitian Sangria. When visiting with a group you MUST spring for one of the “To Share” cocktails, which includes the famous and refreshing “The Watermelon” made with vodka, fresh lime, mint, and rhubarb and served in, yes, a real watermelon! When looking to escape to a slice of tropical paradise in the midst of the concrete jungle, the Hurricane Club is your inventive, chic, and most of all fun answer. Make your reservation here.
