For this week’s Tasty Tuesday we took a trip to the fabulous NYC eatery Le Cirque, a restaurant so well-known there was even a documentary made about it and its owners in 2007 (Le Cirque: A Table in Heaven). And let me tell you, the food–and the whimsical decor and tableware, courteous and kind staff, and overall elegance–lives up to the hype. We went during Restaurant Week so we were able to enjoy a healthy sampling of some of the restaurant’s stand-outs. The starters–salad “Le Cirque” and Pork, Porcini, and Pistachio Terrine–were tasty, but not on the top of the list; that honor belongs to the entrees. The Skate a la Grenobloise with cauilflower purée was incredibly savory and delectable, no matter what you think about fish. And the Chicken Ballantine with corn, arugula, and maitake mushrooms was melt-in-your-mouth tender perfection. For dessert, we marveled over the Crème Brûlée Le Cirque, Ricotta Mouse Cake with watermelon and blueberry compote, and a special gourmet version of Rocky Road, with caramel panna cotta, chocolate sorbet, and homemade marshmallows. Feast your eyes and appetite on the photos below, and click here to book your table at Le Cirque (the Restaurant Week menu has been extended to September 5th!). You won’t regret it.
