Threadless & Thermos Make Sustainable Cool

Here at Cassadecor, we are all about going green. So in 2010, when I heard about the the partnership between Thermos and one of our favorite T-shirt companies Threadless, to create a line of eco-friendly water bottles, I was excited to pick one up.  For those not familiar with this community driven site, each design is chosen from hundreds of submissions based on the votes of nearly one and a half million members and then put into production. Not only are the bottles BPA free, but they follow the hip, graphic appeal of their fun shirts.  So if you are an environmentally conscious consumer who hasn’t picked … (read more).

    ‘Waterless’ Washing Machine

Many washing machines currently out on the market are focused on using less water, but what if there was a machine that used practically no water or detergent at all? Now, with a device developed by Leeds-based Xeros Ltd, this method of “dry” cleaning might soon become available with a washing machine that uses 90% less water than a normal laundry cycle. All you need is a little cup of water and then tiny, 3mm-long nylon beads are used to take care of the stains. Its producers also claim it will reduce household energy bills. How does it work? The beads … (read more).

    What We Love: CleanWell Products

Here in the Cassa office we have a few products we really stand by time and again, and CleanWell all-natural hand sanitizer is one of them. Since the Purell craze swept Mommy & Me and subsequently the nation a few years ago, seeing hand sanitizer dispensaries all over the place is not uncommon. However, the overly sterile scent and harsh alcohol can get tiring for the nose and skin, and it’s worth looking into effective but gentler alternatives. CleanWell offers just that, and we love their alcohol-free hand-sanitizer spray that’s small enough to slip into any purse or backpack. It … (read more).

    Living Green: Ecolution

Love to cook? Love to do right by Mother Nature? Well, you’re in luck thanks to homewares company Ecolution, which carries five different eco-friendly non-stick aluminum product lines to suit all your green culinary needs. All of their products are PFOA-free and use a Hydrolon Non-Stick coating instead. Hydrolon is a water-based solvent that yields just as strong coating as old-PFOA Teflon-type formulas, except is much better for the air, since the water base simply evaporates during the adhesion process. PFOA (pertluorooctanoic acid), on the other hand, takes an extremely long time to break down in the environment. Additionally, Ecolution … (read more).
